BENJAMIN A. MARVIN
Associate Director of Media Relations, The College of Saint Rose
Benjamin A. (Ben) Marvin has worked in media relations and community affairs for more than 30 years.
Currently, he is the Associate Director of Media Relations at The College of Saint Rose in Albany. He has been with the College full time since September 1996, handling all news and media relations for all areas except sports. His duties include writing and distributing 100 press releases a year, fielding inquiries from reporters daily, nights and weekends, too, pitching story ideas, serving as a College spokesman and taking photographs for College publications and events (occasionally for local newspapers too, when their photographers are unavailable).
Before joining the Saint Rose staff, Ben was Director of the Press Office for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, directing the media relations activities of this large state agency. Ben also has worked for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Indiana State Board of Health, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Ben holds a master’s degree in urban affairs from Hunter College of the City University of New York and bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Ben and his wife Rebecca live in Delmar and have two daughters, Elizabeth and Johanna.
